Washington – The republicans had 7 entire years to repeal and replace The Affordable Care act.
Today Speaker Paul Ryan had to face the American public today after years and years of talking about repealing ObamaCare. Not only did they want to repeal it but talked about replacing it. Unfortunately, the “ObamaCare light” bill Paul Ryan put forth didn’t have enough votes to make it to the house floor.
House Speaker Paul D. Ryan conceded, “We’re going to be living with Obamacare for the foreseeable future.”
This is nothing more than a major setback for the President who campaigned and promised that he would one day one have a better bill for the American people. Trump pinning the loss on the Democrats saying politically speaking he should let ObamaCare explode.
Donald Trump spoke to the press saying:
“Obamacare, unfortunately, will explode, It’s going to have a very bad year. Last year, you had over 100 percent increases in various places”.
Trump also said the losers are Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), “because now they own Obamacare.”
“They own it 100 percent own it, and this is not a Republican health care. This is not anything but a Democrat health care, and they have Obamacare for a little while longer until it ceases to exist, which it will sometime in the near future, and just remember, this is not our bill. This is their bill. When they all become civilized and get together and try to work out a great health care bill for the people of this country, we’re open to it. We’re totally open to it,” he said.
Of course in typical Trump fashion, the deflector in chief put the blame on the democrats for not supporting the bill even the republicans had 7 years to put a bill together.
My question is.. Why did the republicans wait 65 days into the new administration when they could’ve introduced a bill working together across the aisle to fix Obamacare rather trying to repeal and replace it?
