Where is that good video game movie? Well, if it isn’t going to be Duncan Jones’ WoW, maybe it will be Assassin’s Creed. Maybe?
This project has been in development for several years due to minor setbacks, but the Assassin’s Creed movie is finally moving forward and is all set to officially begin principal photography on Monday this month. And now Yahoo has even released our first look at the big-screen video game adaptation, which features leading man Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch, an original character. Instead of retelling stories from the games, the film will apparently bring all new characters to that world, so let’s just hope they don’t screw it up. But…don’t be surprised if they do.
Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day. Directed by Justin Kurzel, Assassin’s Creed stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Ariane Labed, and Michael Kenneth Williams, and is scheduled to be released on December 21, 2016.
