Iggy Azalea Cleans Up at Tables in Vegas

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea has had a pretty rough year in terms of fan perception, but not at the Vegas tables.

It has been a bit of a rough year for Iggy Azalea. Not so much a rough year as a very lackluster one following her ridiculous explosion onto the scene in 2014. Now, the backlash from critics and fans alike has managed to catch up to the artist with a vengeance as she has been forced to cancel appearance after appearance and failed to make a splash comparable to her early singles. It’s little wonder that she needed time away in Vegas to put in some R&R before her appearance with Britney Spears at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.

Robin Leach (yes, the “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” Robin Leach) reported for the Las Vegas Sun that Azalea recently made off like a bandit at the tables of the Las Vegas Strip. The rising rapper clearly had a good time for herself in Sin City shortly before the Billboard Music Awards.

Reports say that she was at the table for 11 hours until she was finally dragged away in the wee hours of the morning. Apparently things worked out well for the “Fancy†starlet, though, as she walked away with an undisclosed but large sum. Her winning streak was so inescapable that she only stopped to change clothes in a nearby ladies’ restroom before get back to the action.

The rapper’s game of choice? Blackjack, which had her in a near-trance. While many celebrities are known for taking part in poker games, they’re also well-known for getting into some blackjack (like Ben Affleck). In fact, the classic card game is the most famous option for casino-goers the world over, according to InterCasino. They also display that there’s a wide array of game variants, which can make it as simple or complex as a player prefers.

For the more traditional option, however, all you need is two people and a 52-card deck to get started. If you aren’t quite a card-shark like Azalea, here’s the gist of it: both the dealer and the player receive a two-card hand, and the first who can get 21 or get closest to 21 without going over (or “busting”) wins the hand. The fast-paced play and satisfying betting experiences make blackjack an easy game for anyone to pick up and even harder to put down, especially when you’re on a streak. Iggy was the first to admit she may have gotten a bit carried away ultimately said that she left better off than when she sat down. “In the end, I came up very on top,” she said.

Azalea was eventually pried away from the tables by boyfriend and Los Angeles Lakers basketball star Nick Young, sometimes better known as “Swaggy P.” “It was crazy,” Young said of his ladyfriend’s hot streak. “She was there from 3 p.m. till 2 a.m. I had to drag her away.â€

It looks like her big jackpot couldn’t have come at a better time as outlets are beginning to report that the “No Mediocre” starlet who once shined so brightly as early as a year ago has already begun to lose its luster. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Australian hip-hopper’s luck may be running out following a string of concert cancellations and lack of a bankable single since her breakout smash, “Fancy,” in summer 2014.

Azalea recently absconded from her planned arena tour, “The Great Escape,” that was recently cancelled with full refunds being offered to the scant few that actually bothered to buy tickets. The headlining arena tour had been plagued by drama from the beginning. It was already delayed from its proposed April 2015 start-date all the way back to September, but now it’s pushed to sometime in 2016 to sync up with Azalea’s forthcoming record. The official line coming from Azalea’s camp is that it was postponed as a result of “tour production delays” and a lack of promotion. It may have also had something to do with there being no shortage of seats available on TicketMaster.
