Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is setting up production in Atlanta. The script is finished and the film is currently in pre-production, getting ready to start filming. Apparently there are still some characters in the story who need to be cast, namely, the role of Star-Lord/Peter Quill’s father. There were some speculations that Captain Marv-el was going to be his dad, but director James Gunn shot that
shit down quick. So we still have no idea who Star-Lord’s father is, but one actor who Marvel is currently talking to is Kurt Russell.
It looks as if Marvel and Russell are still very much in the early stages, still having discussions. Kurt has yet to read the script yet and Marvel has yet to make a formal offer to him, but meetings are apparently expected to take place sometime soon – possibly after the holidays.
French actress Pom Klementieff was previously confirmed to join the returning, originally cast as Mantis. Chris Pratt leads the returning cast, reprising his role as Star-Lord, along with Dave Bautista (Drax), Gillan (Nebula), Saldana (Gamora), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot) and Benecio del Toro (The Collector).
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits North American theaters on May 5, 2017.
