Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, won big at the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards. The actor/writer/rapper walked away with the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, and the show Atlanta won for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
Now, Glover will be preparing for his role as Lando Calrissian in the Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film. But because of this, more Atlanta is going to have to wait. It was renewed for a second season, but we’ll be seeing that in 2018. Meanwhile, Glover will be producing more content over at FX. He just signed an exclusive overall deal with FX Productions.
“Donald is a remarkable artist, effortlessly shifting from actor to writer, producer, director and musician to create one amazing project after another,” Nick Grad, president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions, said. “ ‘Atlanta’ is just the beginning, the breakout comedy of the year and a series revered as much for its originality as it’s honest look at the experience of being aspiring, young and Black in that legendary city. We’re proud to partner with Donald in an overall deal that will allow him to continue turning his creative vision into incredible television.”
