It’s safe to say that Pharrell Williams is one of the most amazing producers and musicians in music right now. So much so that his childhood life story is going to be turned into a musical from Fox. Following the success of La La Land, it’s no surprise that Hollywood is currently getting back into musicals.
This original concept, titled Atlantis, can be described as a Romeo and Juliet type of story, completely inspired by Pharrell’s childhood growing up in his hometown of Virginia Beach where he was born and raised. Broadway director Michael Mayer is currently set to direct the project. The same man who produced Hidden Figures, along with Pharrell himself. Mayer is a Tony Award winning director, known for his Broadway Work on Spring Awakening as well as American Idiot.
Attached to write the film is Martin Hynes, who is currently writing Pixar’s Toy Story 4. There’s no word on who will be playing the young Pharrell, or even if his childhood friend Chad Hugo will be in the project. Does this sound like it’ll be fire? Let us know in the comments down below.
