Fresh off his incredible breakout role as emcee Eazy-E in F. Gary Gray’s critically acclaimed biopic Straight Outta Compton, actor Jason Mitchell has apparently signed on for a role in Universal & Legendary’s upcoming monster epic Kong: Skull Island. The movie hits theaters March 10, 2017 and is being directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings Of Summer) with a script from Derek Connolly (Jurassic World). Well, it’s nice to see the kid getting more roles.
All coming from the The Hollywood Reporter, Jason Mitchell will play a normal, easy going pilot, who will surely be a part of the crew of explorers that find themselves on the mysterious Skull Island, which coincidentally is also the residence of the king of the apes, Kong.
This project will reunite Jason Mitchell with his Straight Outta Compton co-star Corey Hawkins (who also apparently had a role in Iron Man 3). He also joins a cast that already features Tom Hiddleston (Thor, Thor: The Dark World), Brie Larson (21 Jump Street), Samuel L. Jackson (we all know Sam Jackson), John C. Reilly (Guardians Of The Galaxy), and Tom Wilkinson (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol).
Kong: Skull Island is expected to kick off production late October in Hawaii.
