Well, it’s become apparent that people are taking this story a bit too seriously. In case you’re unaware, Kanye West probably smoked something before going up on stage at this year’s MTV VMA’s and giving a long, passionate speech. When at the end, he very quickly stated that he’d be running for president in 2020. But because it’s Kanye saying it, it’s all over the internet.
One Republican in Maryland, however, seems to be ready for President Kanye West. Yesterday, the “Ready for Kanye” committee was created — which, in theory, would allow this conservative group to raise money for an effort to draft the rapper into the presidential race, and it was filed with the Federal Election Commission. This was all started by Eugene Craig III, a republican in Maryland who is probably just trolling because even if Kanye was running…you know good and damn well he ain’t running as a republican.
“It’s not about me. It’s about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth,” West said. “And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”
No one was guessing that, Ye, but okay.
