Bay Area musician and activist Tyson Amir is a poet, among many, many other things. He’s also socially and politically conscious, and weaves that beautifully into his work. His father was a Black Panther and his mother, an avid reader and active participant in the Black Liberation movement. So this is something that is very clearly important to him.
Tyson is here to give us the 5th poem in his book Black Boy Poems. It holds some pretty strong social and political commentary and is a piece of spoken word poetry. Be sure to sit back, relax and give it a real thorough listen.
